Dutch lecturer wins second prize in China
The Dutch lecturer Thijs Kouwenhoven is awarded the second prize in the Beijing University Young Teachers Competition. It is the first time a foreign lecturer has won.
Thijs Kouwenhoven researches the formation and evolution of binary stars, galaxies and planets. He teaches ‘modern astronomy’ to twohundred Chinese undergraduate students at Beijing University each year. The Chinese jury was impressed by the interactive skills of Kouwenhoven.
