International students judge TiU
Tilburg University already wrote about in on the intranet: our university scores well among foreign students. The International Student Barometer shows that eighty percent of them would recommend TiU to others. However, there are areas that could use some improvement, that the university forgot to mention.
The figures were recently presented to interested parties. The quality of the lectures and the housing in Tilburg are positively assessed by the students. Especially the area ‘ finding accommodation’ has improved a lot. TiU started collaborations with TBV Wonen, resulting in Talentsquare and improved existing housing with WonenBreburg . This was noticable in the barometer: last year, Tilburg University was sixth in housing, now we come in second. Satisfaction on the catering has improved, as are the admission process and the welcome international students get here. Furthermore, the technology and the quality of the colleges in Tilburg is fine, according to the internationals.
There are also things that do not quite go as they should and where we end below the 145th place on international lists. Employment is a major problem , the barometer shows. There is too little career advice , almost no possibility to get work experience and no employment for international students . It also seems to be difficult for foreign students to connect with people from the Netherlands and, strangely enough, also from people from their own country. Furthermore, the staff of Tilburg University should learn to speak better English.
