Evangelia Demerouti appointed new member Board of Governors

Evangelia Demerouti may call herself the new member of Tilburg University’s Board of Governors. The full professor at Eindhoven University of Technology was appointed Oct. 1, 2022. “As a socially engaged researcher, I consider it a privilege to become a member of the Board of Governors,” she said.

Evangelia Demerouti is a full professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research focuses on Human Performance: the meaning of the work environment, individual career paths and strategies, well-being at work, and work-life balance. She studied psychology at the University of Crete and obtained her PhD at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg in Germany in 1999.

About her appointment, Demerouti said, “As a socially engaged researcher, I consider it a privilege to join the Board of Governors. Tilburg University is an engaged university focused on making valuable contributions to society and the environment.”

Hugo Reumkens, chair of the Board of Governors, is also pleased with her appointment: “The Board of Governors is excited about Demerouti’s appointment. She has a great understanding of the academic community and the conditions for excellent scientific research.”

The Board of Governors ranks above the Executive Board and monitors the goals of the university. Besides the chair and the new member, Tilburg University’s Board of Governors consists of Jos van Lange, Manon Leijten, and Wil van der Aalst. Together with the latter, Demerouti will give substance to the work of the Research, Education, and Impact Committee.
