Tilburg Talent Show: who will win the title Campus Poet 2024 and receive 500 euros?

Word artists, slam poets and poets at the university can compete for the title of Campus Poet 2024. For a chance to win, submit poems and later recite them during the Open Stage & Poetry Night. An expert jury will then choose the Campus Poet 2024.

A campus poet speaks asked and unasked about matters such as the campus, student life, studying and science. And about everything else that can inspire a person: war and peace, society, emotions, or simply ‘life’. Univers publishes poems by the campus poet a few times a year and you can present them live at a number of Studium Generale events and major events such as Night University. You will receive a stipend of 500 euros for this.

Global Law student Chinenye Oguejiofor won the election for campus poet last year: ‘As campus poet, I want to provide insight into the feelings and emotions of students. Occasionally, these may be insights that apply mainly to international students, but I want everyone to feel that I am giving them a voice, including my own.’

The campus poet election is open to students and employees. To participate: send three poems in Dutch or English, one of which is on the theme of ‘campus life’, to studiumgenerale@tilburguniversity.edu before February 2, 2024. The best candidates can present their work during the Open Stage & Poetry Night on February 20. Based on this, a professional jury determines who will be the new campus poet.
