Stéphanie van Gulijk new Dean of Law Faculty
The Faculty of Law will have a new dean. Stéphanie van Gulijk will succeed Geert Vervaeke as Dean as of 1 April 2025.
Van Gulijk is currently Professor of Private Law at Tilburg Law School (TLS). She studied law at Tilburg University and obtained her PhD here in 2008 with a thesis entitled ‘European Architect Law’. She then worked as an assistant professor and associate professor at the Faculty of Law.
In addition, Van Gulijk has worked as a legal counsellor, as a senior lecturer at the Grotius Academy and as a deputy-justice at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
Educational innovation
Since September 2021, Van Gulijk has also been vice dean of education. She held several board positions. Rector and President of the Executive Board Wim van de Donk praises her commitment to innovation of education: ‘It cannot be a coincidence that the faculty has made a huge leap in recent years in the field of educational innovation and digitization.’
Of course Van Gulijk is also happy with her new position: “I am proud to be able to contribute to the further development of Tilburg Law School in the coming years in the position of Dean in Connection and look forward to further cooperation with the other faculties, the Executive Board, and the professional field.”
Van Gulijk succeeds Geert Vervaeke as Dean of the Faculty of Law. Vervaeke’s second and final term expires on March 31, 2025. By then Vervaeke will have been dean of Tilburg Law School for eight years.
