Tilburg University leaves Reitse Toren
The university has terminated the lease of the Reitse Toren. In recent years, the building has been used to compensate for the shortage of teaching spaces on campus. Partly due to declining student numbers, the building is no longer needed.

In recent years, the number of students has grown sharply, but the capacity of the lecture halls and teaching rooms has lagged behind that growth. The new Marga Klompé building was still under construction, so the university was looking for temporary spaces near the campus.
The Klompé building opened in January 2024 and is now fully operational. In addition, the number of students is no longer growing and has even decreased slightly last year. As a result, the demand for extra lecture halls and teaching spaces has also decreased.
In good condition
The university has terminated the lease of the Reitse Toren and the location will no longer be used for education or self-study as of this summer. The costs that Tilburg University spent on rent and energy can now be spent on other things.
The furniture and audiovisual equipment are still ‘in good condition’. The university is going to use it to ‘upgrade’ lecture halls in the Warande building and a quiet room in the Cobbenhagen building.
