Blackboard 9 about to be released

The latest edition of student portal Blackboard will be introduced on February 12. What are the most important changes?

Anyone who visits his Blackboard page will see a counter in the top right of the screen. It’s counting down the days until Blackboard 9 – the new digital environment for students and teachers – replaces the old version. Henk Kempff, project manager at Library and IT Services, explains why the university is switching to this new edition.

“The most important reason is the improved user interface and a couple of new applications. It’s easier to create groups and hand in assignments.” Also, the new version supports blogs and wiki’s. “These can be put to use during courses, to encourage students to reflect upon the theory. But what these applications will be used for ultimately depends on the creativity of teachers.”

According to Kempff, the new Blackboard will prove to be practical and easy to use. Let us know if you agree!
