Blog: Meet Wealthy Women now

I was innocently reading-through some unknown terminology on urbandictionary.com, when one of those extremely annoying adds on the side of the page, for once, stole my attention.

Not because it was interesting or appealing, but rather for what it said was quite surprising: “Meet Wealthy Women NOW”! My curiosity had the best of me, so I clicked. I soon realized that this link would not bring me to some porn site or install some nasty virus on my laptop (which btw is a MAC, so that second one does not really count.) Instead I was brought on a legit webpage, where wealthy women and men would try to find their perfect halves, without the risk of mixing themselves amongst that horrid, stinking, scary group of people we call middle class.

This was disturbing and, at the same time, quite frightening. What has happened to “love recognizes no barriers” and “money doesn’t buy love”? What I curiously stumbled upon could be the proof that these romantic ideas – well – are just ideas. Nowadays we look for a partner who can provide us with a good economic stability. In some sense, how can you blame that? However, it is the openness with which this meeting website is advertised that struck me, even the name itself “elitemeeting.com”, clearly shows that economic status is not a positive aspect in our search for love, but often the most important requirement.

One fact about this all did reassure me: if wealthy men and women still resort to an online meeting website, can money really buy love?
Well for now we can only hope that the majority still believes in love with no boundaries and let’s also hope that they will stop placing such advertisement on urbandictionary.com! elitemeeting on urbandictionary… Really?
