Report: TIK-week day 3 Outdoor Games!

Water, soap and sand: the perfect ingredients for an good old day of fun. All TIK participants got ready for a day playing outside in the Leijpark yesterday.

tik 2011 spellendagPlease, no more sports day, the organizers of the TIK-week must have thought when they launched the idea of having a game day. High school sportschemes and sports t-shirts are definitely over now. Day 3 of TIK week: playing on a huge field with air cushions, inflatable soap slide, mini swimming pools and lots of girls in mini bikinis. “Everything is permitted,” says TIK organizer Onno. “We only have a prize for the greatest mentor group.”

While the sky is starting to look more gray the participating freshmen become louder and wetter. They jump from huge water slides, try to sit still on a air-cushion donkey, or for great classic fun: slide on a soap slide.

“We slide from the skiing slope twice,” two soaked freshmen say. “Super cool.” Behind them a student gets ready to jump down into a shallow water pool with cushions from ten meters high. He hesitates, takes a deep breath and then jumps under loud cheers from fellow group members.

According to organizer Onno, this afternoon is meant to relax after the exciting first days. “Because professional higher education institutions and the university jointly organize this afternoon, we can be generous.”

Also many student sports clubs are present and came up with their own water and soap version. There is ‘soap hockey’ and ‘soap volleyball’.

Despite bad weather, there is an exited and cheerful atmosphere. The first student couples are forming – what do you expect when you slide all together half naked from a ten meter high slide into a soap bath – there is food and drink and music, and you are standing with mud up to their ankles, who cares?
