First 50 Days: Computers: The Holy Grail of the campus

Blog by Katerina PetropoulouToday, I was in the hunt for a computer to finish my Statistics assignment. Exciting,I know! Up until now, I had been surprisingly lucky in finding an available computer on campus to use. But not anymore!

First stop the Dante Building. Mission yet to be accomplished. All 42 computers were occupied, which makes me wonder what time people actually get here to get a computer!

Next stop in my ‘journey’: the library! The ultimate battle field for computer hunters, where everyone walk around workstations like sharks swimming around their prey. I was scanning the spots in a state of ’total alert’. Or, as Ross Geller from Friends would say, ‘Unagi!’ In such circumstances you need to be quick, flexible, and extremely observant and apparently I wasn’t since other ‘sharks’ hit target and I took the walk of shame to Goossens building.

Still no luck, so after 45 minutes and a quick stop at the Prisma Building I was back to my starting point: the Dante. And there, all of a sudden an available computer! Of course it was available because it had no chair. But who cares? I decided to grasp the chance and work standing until someone less nerdy than me decides to go home and leave his wonderful seat to me!
