Dutch party PVV wants fewer foreign students
The number of foreign students in the Netherlands should be limited because there is a shortage of student rooms. There are too many foreign students here compared to the rest of the world, according to Dutch Party for Freedom PVV.
“Foreign students take the places of Dutch students. That it hard to take with such a lack of student housing”, said Eric Lucassen of Party for Freedom PVV in an interview with newswebsite nu.nl. He wants to know what Dutch interior minister Donner is going to do about it.
Member of parliament Lucassen also said to receive messages that student dorms are populated by Eastern Europeans who come here to work. “If you want to invest in knowledge economy you should not use the scarce availability of student accommodation for asparagus cutters”, he argued.
Lucassen wants Donner to come up with exact numbers and discuss the matter of student housing for foreign students and eastern Europeans with municipalities, students, educational institutions and student housing cooperations.
