Why do women cheat?

Joris Lammers, a social psychologist from Tilburg University, along with Marie Claire magazine conducted a survey about adultery. The outcomes will be revealed in the new edition of the magazine.

Lammers collected data from five hundred women. It turned out that one out of five cheated on their partner. The reason? A lover makes them feel young and attractive, which is good for their self-confidence. Surprisingly, sexual satisfaction is a secondary motivation.

Yet, eighty percent of women choose to leave their lover and stay with their partner. Affairs are not preferred to a committed relationship and apparently they mainly boost the self-confidence.

An earlier study by Lammers had shown that successful people cheat more, regardless of their gender.
