Zijlstra: ‘Promote Holland in China’
By joining forces in maintaining contacts with China, the Netherlands could profit more from the chances the Chinese economy offers. Entrepreneurs, researchers and the government could learn a lot from each others’ experiences and together we could open doors that otherwise would remain closed.
This is what Secretary of State Zijlsta (education, culture and science) stated when he received a report from the Advisory Council for Science- and Technology policies (AWT). The report consists of an advice for the cabinet to promote the Netherlands in China.
“The Netherlands have a lot to offer China as a knowledge nation. We are one of the worldwide pioneers in knowledge and science,” said Zijlstra. “We can profit from a stronger bond between the two countries”.
The AWT has written the advice “The Chinese glove” in request of the ministries of Education, Culture and Science and Economics, Agriculture and Innovation. The advice states that the cabinet has to determine which knowledge is crucial for the Dutch economy and how it can be maintained and strengthened.
