Increase in demand for student rooms in 2020

The demand for rooms in student cities in 2020 will increase by 33,000 rooms. This is shown by the first nationwide student monitor .

This annual monitoring was conducted by Kences, the trade association for student. There were 35,000 students participating in the study.

The increase in demand for student accommodation is a result of the growing number of students- in 2020 this demand will increase to 85,000 rooms. The future student is demanding that half of the requested rooms have a private shower, toilet and possibly a kitchen.

The survey also shows that nearly two thirds of the non-resident student housing facilities are shared and that they cost around 300 euros per month. Approximately 15% have a private shower, toilet and kitchen, but they cost more than 300 euros. The remaining 20% of surveyed students lived independently in a house and usually pay about 400 euros per month.
