Katerina Blogs: Two and a half days of sun
It is amazing what a little bit of sun can do to people. Last week it was surprisingly sunny. For two whole days! Well, and a half. And I was a lot more energetic and positive. Energetic to spend my days of sun at the library where I belong with the rest of my species, and positive that yes! I can study for exams, write my thesis and do assignments, all at the same time! See, everything was possible!
So, these two and a half days taught me a lot! First of all, sun in the Netherlands is not just an urban legend or something other people have. Second of all, I can get seriously high on sun. Yeah, I can. And last but not least, the fact that the library is an ecosystem of its own where various kinds of nerds grow and flourish.
For example: the social one (checking their Facebook status as fast as they scan abstracts of academic articles), the know-it-all (usually loud and Greek, innovativeness is a word and no one can argue), the smart Asian (the oldest of the species, no book is big enough, no article cited enough, the break room is the Friday-night-drinks venue), the uptight one (always being alert for people whispering or breathing too loud in the silent part, highly resistant to keyboard noise).
This past week, I have been all of the above! Does this mean I’m a hybrid nerd? Or more like a super nerd? Or should I just get a life?
