Katerina blogs: Full circle

Katerina blogs

Two years ago, around this time, I remember lying on the beach, having just received my admission letter from Tilburg University, making plans of how my life would be in a new country. Two years later, my student life is almost coming to an end. I’ve made it through! And I’m going to miss every part of it. What seemed like a mountain, two years of studying and living abroad, have passed in the blink of an eye.

These past years have been full of new experiences, new people, new opportunities. Even though I was way past my becoming an adult, at least on paper, at 18, and having lived on my own for five years, I feel like it was here that I actually matured. Living abroad, away from your comfort zone, away from family and old friends, really helps you grow. You learn how to manage your time, how to really be responsible for yourself, how to be on your own. Basically, how to be independent.

And now, it’s almost as if I’ve gone full circle. There’s still planning the unknown, trying to picture how life is going to be same time next year. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. Because what I’ve learned the past two years is that no matter what your plans are, life will take you where you are meant to go.
