London students plan new demonstrations
Despite warnings and injunctions, British students plan a “national day of action” against the way police handles student protesters.
During earlier protests, London students that were involved in a sit-in against the intended closure of the University of London Union (ULU) were violently treated, according to the evicted students. According to the University of London (UoL), the federal structure of the union is outdated and the union offers poor value for the money that is invested. Even though the police and the University of London (UoL) have taken measures against further protesting, the Facebook-event #copsoffcampus already has almost 2400 people ‘attending’. If all those people show up, it would be the biggest protest so far.
Over the past year, several incidents with student protesters have happened in London. The UoL therefore obtained an injunction that prohibited students from taking possession of university grounds for two months. Students plan on ignoring the injunction.
