Korean students die because of roof collapse
At least eight students died this week during an introduction meeting at Busan University in Gyeongiu, in South Korea. Gyeongiu lies 370 kilometers from the capital, Seoul.
“A lot of people fled to the exits when the ceiling started to collapse. Some of them were trampled. It was complete chaos”, says a student that was present at the meeting and who managed to make it out on time. “The building gave in after less than 10 seconds.” At the moment of the collapse, 500 students were inside. Most of them got away.
The accident happened because of an enormous amount of snow on the roof. Rescuers had trouble getting to the scene, because of slippery roads.
