Paris is the best student city
Paris is the best place to live as a student. QS world university rankings has published a list of the best student cities around the world. The French capital came in first for the second consecutive year, followed by Melbourne and London.
The list is compiled by scoring the cities’ student mix, quality of living, affordability, employer activity and desirability. The ranking is meant to give students extra information, in addition to the university rankings. They can use the information to pick an institution. Ben Sowter, head of research at QS, says in the Guardian: “[The cities data] provides students with a complementary tool to university rankings. After all, a university experience is intrinsically influenced by the location.”
Only the 116 cities that have over 250.000 inhabitants and have at least two institutions in the QS World University Ranking are included in the list. The website also gives additional information, for example on what the cheapest student city is. When you are short on cash, the best place to go to is Taipei. The most desirable city is Toronto.
