Pick up your bike in time: Tilburg University is removing unused bicycles

Do you sometimes leave your bike on campus a bit longer than planned? Now is the time to pick it up. Tilburg University is starting a removal operation today for bicycles that appear to have been left on campus for an extended period.

Starting today, bikes that seem to have been unused for a long time will be labeled. If your bike receives a label, you have two weeks to collect it. Otherwise, your trusty steed will be donated to a good cause.

A good cause

Each year, around 200 to 300 bicycles are removed this way to keep the campus bike racks accessible. The bikes aren’t scrapped; instead, they are donated to the ANWB Kinderfietsenplan, which refurbishes them and provides them to children for whom having a bike isn’t guaranteed.

Proof

Is your bike missing and do you suspect it was taken during the cleanup operation? Then you can report to security at the Vigilant Building. Anyone who can prove that a removed bike is theirs will get it back.
