Paris best student city in the world
Quacquarelly Symonds (QS), a British company that specializes in higher education and exchange studying, has named Paris the best student city in the world. Last year, Paris also won, being just a little better than London. QS publishes rankings about higher education and for this list they looked at five different qualities. The number and ranking of the institutions, the views of employees on the quality of graduates and the quality of student living are important points. Affordability and the mix of nationalities in a city are also considered in the ranking.
Numbers two and three are London and Singapore. In the English media, journalists notice that Londen only missed out on the top spot by two points. The English lost to the French because of the high costs of studying in their capital. France is a very affordable place to study, which has always made it attractive for foreign students.
To be considered for the title, cities have to have 250.000 inhabitants and at least two institutions. Because of that, 98 cities worldwide were in the running for a spot in the ranking, that holds 50 cities. The only Dutch city that appears in the list is Amsterdam, on the 36th place.
