UK youngsters put off by high tuition fees
English youngsters are massively turning their backs on universities, following a dramatic hike in tuition fees. The applications in the UK dropped nearly 12 percent this year, while in the rest of Europe student numbers rise. The UK colleges are shocked and consider lowering their fees again.
Prime Minister David Cameron recently tripled tuition fees to 9000 pounds. Some universities suffer more from the fall in applications than others. City University London saw a drop of 41.1 percent, ScienceGuide reports.
