Biggest ‘MeiMarkt’ ever
The ‘MeiMarkt’ is always a fine mess and this year the market will be the largest ever. Normal shops are not open so there is room for 760 stalls. There are also 90 extra booths for children. Last year the MeiMarket had only 750 stalls.
In previous years the normal shops were open during the MeiMarkt, but the visitors could not get to the doors because of all the booths. This year this won’t be a problem.
The MeiMarkt is a market that starts at 20.00u of the 18th of May and ends the 19th of May at the end of the day. That means you can comb the jumble sale all night long.
Marcel van den Hurk of the MeiMarkt foundation says: ” We are totally ready to make it a fantastic weekend! The subscriptions are overwhelming and the stalls were sold out in less than 12 hours. Fortunately, we could place more stalls because the normal shops are closed. The supply will be gigantic, because of the economic crisis more people will probably be shopping around. We expect more activity than previous years. We advise everyone to come by bike or public transport.!”
