Less scholarships and waivers TiU
More international students who want to study in Tilburg will have to pay their tuition fee themselves. The university is economizing on scholarships and tuition waivers for international students. The number of scholarships is reduced by twenty per cent, the number of waivers with thirty per cent.
This conclusion can be drawn from the proposal of a committee that was given the task to look for ways to cut back on internationalization. The committee also advises to be critical about the amount that is given as a waiver. Right now, every TUSP-student (Tilburg University Scholarship Program) automatically receives a waiver that reduces the high master tuition rate to the level of the low statutory rate. By giving a waiver that would bring the high master rate to the level of the high bachelor rate, the university can still meet the students part of the way.
The University also wants to cut back on visits to education fairs. Those expenses must be reduced by eighty per cent, which means a reduction of 115.000 Euros. The recruitment of new students should mostly be done through the internet. Research shows that only seven per cent of all students goes to a fair to orientate on educational programs. The most part of the students makes a decision through information found on the internet.
