Students want peace

Masterpeace is an originally Dutch-Egyptian organization that some call ’the new united nations’. It is a worldwide network of civilians who make an effort for peace. Students worldwide have their own local Masterpeace-clubs and try to create a better world.

Last weekend, people from all over the world came together to talk about the work they are doing. There are fifty clubs in forty countries. They organize events and discussion group, but sometimes the things they have to deal with are more serious. In Sierra Leone, a group of peace workers stood in between to tribes that wanted to go at each other because of an old fight. They managed to negotiate between the two parties and prevented a fight.

On september 21th 2014 there is going to be a big event in Istanbul, where artists from areas of conflict will meet each other. South Sudan and North Sudan is one example, but it could also be that two musicians from Russia and Chechnya play music together.
