Internationals predict: Dutch world champion

International students in The Netherlands have faith in our football team. The Nuffic, Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education, has started a world cup pool for international students and alumni. The outcome? The world cup is ours!

According to Hans Dommers, responsible for the Nuffic alumni networks, this pool shows international students stay connected to The Netherlands after their departure. “This pool is mostly for fun of course, but more importantly, students stay in touch with their Dutch fellow students and Dutch companies. From these contacts, a lot of strong business relations are born and those are good for export and the Dutch economy”.

Another manifestation of this connection is that the internationals’ trust in the Dutch team is firm as a rock. Dommers: “This is probably a result of the warm bond they feel with our country. The Dutch team gets to the final in half of the entries. Another half of that lets the orange team become world champion. They are a lot more optimistic than most Dutchmen.”
