Den Bosch wants to invest in Data Science Graduate School

The city of Den Bosch considers investing 250.000 euros in the Data Science Graduate School, a project from the University of Technology Eindhoven and Tilburg University. They discuss the plan on 3 February.

In their proposal (Dutch) the major and aldermen write that it is to be expected that the municipality will be asked for financial support. For the first phase, they ask the town council for 250.000 euros.

Last year, the question was if the Graduate School was a realistic plan. The results of a study on that have not been made public yet, but in spite of that, the town council will discuss the proposal. In a reaction, Tilburg University states that the results will probably be published this week and are “promising”. Den Bosch will mostly be involved in the project through the housing of the school. “The meaning to the city of Den Bosch is significant,” the municipality writes. “Through the arrival of university education we get a unique chance to profile Den Bosch as a university town.” On top of that, students will have a positive effect on the dynamic of the city and the region, as well as on the innovative climate.”

On 1 September the town council of Den Bosch was informed about the plans of Tilburg University and the University of Technology Eindhoven. The Graduate School will be a joint, academic education center with three mastertracks: Data Science, Entrepeneurship en Governance.
