Occupiers leave Maagdenhuis on Monday

The occupiers of the Maagdenhuis have said to leave the building. They will pack their bags on monday, april 13th. From then on, The New University will continue the fight outside the Maagdenhuis, reports Folia.

After negotiations, last Tuesday, The New University and the Executive Board came to an agreement. The occupiers were to leave Sunday evening. Wednesday morning, however, the students backed out. During a press conference, they announced not to leave.

The Executive Board then summoned the occupiers to vacate the premises no later than 18.00h. Later that day, an informal consultation between all parties involved took place: the Executive Board, DNU, Rethink UvA, Humanities Rally Asva and the CWC and CSR.

Result: the occupiers will leave the building on Monday. They say to have already ‘achieved much’. From now on The New University continues to fight outside the Maagdenhuis
