Tilburg Scientists Give Lectures in the Pub
Scientists sharing their knowledge in a pub rather than a stuffy lecture hall? That is the idea behind TapTalks. In November, you can grab a beer and listen to Tilburg University researchers Waldie Hanser and Sonali Kulkarni.

Sanne Stenvert, a former journalism student who founded TapTalks, has noticed that social media is awash with people who seem to know everything about everything. Yet those who have genuinely spent years studying a subject are heard far less often, Stenvert told Brabants Dagblad.
‘Real knowledge deserves a platform,’ reads the TapTalks website. The lectures are aimed at anyone who never stops learning. A relaxed atmosphere and accessibility are the main priorities, and no prior knowledge of the subject is required.
Music and BookTok
Three pub lectures are scheduled for next month, including two featuring researchers from Tilburg University. On 25 November, music psychologist Waldie Hanser will explain at De Harmonie why music can be so comforting. The following day, PhD researcher Sonali Kulkarni will give a talk at Berlijn Café about the popularity of BookTok.
The TapTalks sessions last around 45 to 50 minutes, after which audience members can ask questions and chat with the speakers. Tickets cost €9.50, including a drink. Tickets are available via cafecollege.nl.
