Outdoor piano on campus vandalized

One of the three outdoor pianos that are placed on campus was destroyed last week. It’s the piano outside the Academia building. The pianos are part of the ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’ public art installation for Incubate Festival in Tilburg.

The piano seat and keys were destroyed with a knife, confirms Mark Dekker, cultural manager at Academic Forum. The vandalism incident was committed during the evening hours. Seven of the in total 103 ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’ pianos in Tilburg have been vandalized.

This week the pianos will be collected, put into storage and tested. The pianos that still work will partly be donated to schools and community centers. Another part is auctioned. The unusable piano pianos might go to an art collective in Limburg, says an Incubate Festival spokesperson.
