Eijffinger mediatop winner for seventh time
Professor in financial economics Sylvester Eijffinger has won the Tilburg University Mediatop for the seventh time. On average he was in the news more than twice a day. “During the euro crisis people need information from an expert they trust”, Eijffinger explains.
Eijffinger was in the news in regional, national and international papers. Being a seven-time winner reminded him of Lance Armstrong. “Although the comparison between Eijffinger and Armstrong has nothing to do with doping,” added chairman of the Executive Board of Tilburg University Hein van Oorschot, jokingly.
In second place is Harald Benink, professor in banking and finance. Professor in clinical psychology Ad Vingerhoets reached third position. Tilburg University was in the news 18 times a day on average. “18 times a day is more than we realise, And it is not only because of the Diederik Stapel affair of course,” Van Oorschot joked at the Mediatop presentation during the annual new year’s reception.
