Fingerprinting to be made mandatory for foreign students
Foreign students who apply for a residence permit will need to submit their fingerprints besides their photograph. This data will be stored in a central file. By using this file the Immigration and Naturalization Service hopes to curb identity fraud, document fraud and illegitimate residency.
Thus reads a new bill sent tot the Dutch house of commons. The bill is proposed by minister Leers of Immigration, Integration and Asylum. The law not only applies to foreign students seeking residency in the Netherlands, but to other immigrants looking for work or family reunion as well.
