Marga Klompé building awarded School Building of the Year 2024
On November 6th, the Marga Klompé building was awarded the title of School Building of the Year 2024. Designed by Powerhouse Company, the building was praised by the jury for its wooden construction, sustainable solutions, and aesthetics.
During the Architectenweb Awards 2024 in Rotterdam, the Marga Klompé building, which officially opened its doors on January 29, 2024, was recognized for its sustainability and architectural beauty. The jury described it as a ‘highly successful example of timber construction’ and emphasized the innovative and, above all, beautiful solutions implemented to promote sustainability.
The Klompé building serves the entire university and is named after Marga Klompé, the first female minister of the Netherlands. She received an honorary doctorate from the then Catholic University of Tilburg in 1982.

The jury of the Architectenweb Awards 2024 was comprised of prominent architects. The entries were evaluated based on innovation, sustainability, social relevance, and craftsmanship. Other nominees included the Energy Hub 050 in Groningen and the Fontys Campu
