Corien Prins appointed University Professor at Tilburg University
As of March 1, 2025, Tilburg University has appointed Corien Prins as a University Professor. The Professor of Law and Digitalization will take on an overarching role, focusing on interdisciplinary research and increasing the university’s visibility in society.

Currently a professor at Tilburg Law School, Prins will work across faculties in her new position. She will promote interdisciplinarity, stimulate academic debate within the university, and ensure that the university’s work becomes more visible to the wider public.
Prins is looking forward to her new role, as she told Univers: ‘Besides being incredibly pleased with this appointment, I find the mission that comes with it a major source of motivation. A leading role in interdisciplinary research and education, academic innovation, and societal dialogue are essential to shaping our role and mission as a university. Especially in these uncertain times.’
Digitalization
As a Professor of Law and Digitalization, Prins focuses on the impact of digitalization on legislation, fundamental values, and human rights. She has developed the field of law and (information) technology on both a national and international level.
Beyond her academic work, Prins has served as the chair of the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) since 2017. This council advises the Dutch government on key issues that may influence existing policies and society.
University Professor
In 2023, Prins was awarded the NWO Stevin Prize for her achievements in both academia and policymaking. With her appointment as University Professor, she adds yet another distinguished title to her career.
In 2016, Ernst Hirsch Ballin became the first professor at Tilburg University to be appointed University Professor. In 2022, Kim Putters was appointed University Professor of Broad Prosperity.
