The program of the relay strike in Tilburg on April 10 has been announced. Throughout the day there are activities in the city center and on campus. A protest manifestation will take place on the Willemsplein in the center of Tilburg on Thursday with speakers, music, and a protest march.

Full-day program

In the morning, some teachers will provide so-called teach-outs. They provide adapted lessons on or around the campus and in the city center. From 11.30, participants can gather at Willemsplein. There will be music, coffee, tea and fries, and the organization will make opportunities available to make protest signs.

At 12.30 the main program starts on the Willemsplein. Several speakers will address the demonstrators and at 13.30 a march will start through the center that will end at Willemsplein. And from 14.45 there will be an opportunity for everyone to catch up on the past strike day in 013.

Organization

The organization is in the hands of interest group WOinActie, the unions AOb, FNV and the student unions. This spring, they are organizing actions throughout the country to protest against the cuts made by the Schoof cabinet. Some of the cuts have been scaled back after massive protests in The Hague, but more than a billion in cuts remain.

After Leiden, Utrecht, Nijmegen, Amsterdam, and Groningen, it is now Tilburg’s turn. There, student union F.U.S.T joins the relay strike. The Executive Board also supports the strike. This means that employees can join the protests without any problems, they do not have to take leave to do so. The university will remain open during the strike.
