Tilburg Uni cuts into scholarship program

Tilburg University cuts back on its scholarship program for international students. As from now, faculties have to use the faculty budget to fund the Tilburg University Scholarship for Academic Excellence.

Social Sciences (TSB) will reserve 45,000 euros for the grants, Economics (TiSEM) has made a commitment for 75,000 euros, Law (TLS) 40,000 euros and Humanities (TSH)  25,000 euros.

The faculties also sharpen the criteria to be considered for the scholarships. From now on only the most excellent students (students with an average grade equivalent to a Dutch 8 or higher) can be granted the Tilburg University scholarship.

To be able to fund the continuation of the new Tilburg University Scholarship program, Social Sciences decided to drop the Faculty Scholarship for excellent EER students and pre-master students and its Oldendorff Scholarships. For academic year 2012-2013, the faculty now offers nine scholarships of 5000 euro to the most excellent master students. In total 10 to 14 scholarships less than in earlier years.
